Aren JenkinsGreat info Aren, thanks. This years PFD check, would knock a big hole in the cost of a Spoolmatic 30 ! :)

Perfect timing. Just got a Millermatic 255 and would eventually like to add the capability of welding aluminum with it. Nice to see the pros and cons of push/pull vs spool gun, and look forward to you expanding on using both. Leaning towards a spool gun, as the machine will likely be used 80%+ of the time on steel. So the spool gun will allow me to leave the steel stinger in place instead of swapping it out for the push pull.

Matt, that 25V/250IPM setting is friggin' magic, thank you!

Nice repurpose of that bucket Sam. That prefab weld on mounting plate sure looked like a huge time saver. Do I detect a Pittsburgh area accent? I grew up to the southwest near Washington. Left right after high school 40 years ago.

Really good info there Roy, thank you! Have you ever tried stuff like painting on Solar Flux for protecting the back side of a weld like that? I have a can, but have not tested it out yet. I suspect it will be a mess to clean up afterwards. I suppose it's a matter of A.) Is it effective for starters, and B.) Is it still a time saver over fussing around with improvised barriers and gas?

Cool to see an Alaskan WS instructor! ( I live in Wasilla ) Welcome. Would be great if you could do some instructional info and expand on the use of Silicon-Bronze MIG. I volunteer on a steam locomotive restoration, and that sounds like it could be a hell of a time saver, over gas brazing to build up wear surfaces.

A little Flex Seal on there, and she'll be water tight!😀
