I recently got a piece of pipe. I believe it is copper nickel alloy. I am going to do a spark test to confirm material. Does copper nickel alloy pipe give off sparks and what color? What other test can I do to determine if it is copper nickel alloy?

Update did a spark test with grinder. No sparks, material removed easily. Not aluminum because it's too heavy. JD Brewer

Is it possible to use dual shield flux core for an open root pass? on a 3G open root 1” plate test with a 60-degree “v” groove. Using 1/16” flux core welding wire
I am taking a structural weld test for a company and this is what they told me before the test. I have not taken the test yet. I have done open root with MIG but not dual shield.

All done with the Primeweld 325X. If anyone is on the fence about a new machine, don’t pass on the Primeweld.

If you wanna watch me dial in the Primeweld 325X on 1/8” Aluminum. Stay tuned video will be uploaded by the weekend. I mean you gotta have a custom back cap and a furick 5 or none of them will weld Aluminum. Keep your eyes open guys this will be a great video for starting your tuning process with a new machine.

Using Miller Pipe Worx 400 to practice for a weld test. This is the most expensive machine I have used. 3/8 inch plate with 37.5 angle bevel, 1/8 root opening, 1/16 landing. Mig root downhill. Dual shield flux core up hill. If click the trigger on any of the two guns the machine will automatically switch over with the saved settings. Crazy expensive
