Absolutely a great habit. I knew I was getting low but hey, it happens. We’re going to show the good, bad and the ugly too. It’s as real as it gets for us. Thanks for sharing good ideas that can help us all.

Martin Rubenstein hey thanks for watching, the trim setting on this machine basically controls the arc length. I do try and stay on the leading edge of the puddle for good base metal fusion with GMAW, but the technique that works for me in the overhead position has a little push back and up to help overcome the pull of gravity on the puddle. Then back to the lower front of the puddle for fusion. Hopefully that gives a better play by play!

And stay tuned for the cut and etch coming soon.

Thanks,

Matt

Also I have looked at your pictures, was either of those the 4F? Was the paint on the trailer ground off before welding. If the paint was not removed that could cause it to weld crazy. Although flux core will burn through a lot of stuff, it’ll be better if you can get the paint off. Charles Rush

Let me know if any of this works,

That 25V and WFS 250 is a good sweet spot setting for me. The 2 things that come to mind for me are gun angle and wire stick out length. I would try 1/2” on the stick out and make sure you have the angle straight in or a slight drag angle 5-10 degrees.

I have seen what you described if the angle is a push angle especially if the angle is excessive. Try this and see if it helps and let me know.

Thanks

Matt

John J Dillon that’s slick! You are correct trim is arc length . I appreciate your feedback and I’m glad the videos are helpful! Let me know if you need anything,

I went with the trusty 4043 filler based on my experience with most cast aluminum it seems to work really well. I didn’t do anything to determine any specifics for the base metal.

Thanks for watching!

I will definitely try to get some information on that! Thanks for watching and thanks for the ideas for new videos!

It was 20” diameter and about 3/8” thick
