Hey guys I've been working on some 0.023 stainless this week and I was wondering if this is something you might be interested in for a video.
Let me know and I'll try to come up with something! 👊
I'm interested in welding some stainless tanks/containers using 0.048" (#18) sheet. I've seen folks do this on YouTube, without back purge. I tried a couple of test pieces, and the back is not good, 'sugared' I believe is the term, exactly like the videos show on WelderSkills. I watched Roy's video using aluminum foil to contain the purge gas, but as the tank is sealed up, that becomes difficult.
What do people do, or are the final welds always crappy on the inside?
Shooting video at Georgia Northwestern Technical College with Dad (Jody). It's a high school welding competition with the one-and-only Matt Hayden leading the event. Judging in progress!
How can I tell if I have a bottle of bad argon gas? I was using the same settings and same bottle of gas when tig welding aluminum. Then I started getting no cleaning action. It was if I was using Direct Current instead of AC. Which I have acidentally done. 😅 . The pressure in the bottle dropped to 8 KPA & 1,250 PSI. I got it from lindell gas
I am doing padding on a flat piece and also a T-Joint with 1/8 inch aluminum, ER 4043 ROD, I change the tungsten from 3/32 to 1/8. Running 125 to 150 amps. Using Grey band tungsten.
Loving the new platform guys! Just figured I’d post up a couple of photos of my Grandfather’s AIRCO buzz box I just got from my Dad. I think it is circa 1960ish. Going to contact Miller and see if I can get a manual and a bit more information on it. Also going to teach myself how to stick with it. Starting out with 6011. If anyone has any experience with one of these I’d love to hear about it.
