Is the purpose of this to have the previous puddle harden so that you can create a uniform look aka stacking dimes?  Or is there a ton a variables in play for you pedal pumping?

Jesse hooverthese are some welds I was doing yesterday my first coupon on aluminum. The center beads are no filler there maybe 1/4 thick 5/16. It's like I said the bead is kinda just as thick as it's gonna be. Got any pics of your beads?

Jesse hoover well I'm no master at all but I think the answer to your question the bead width, depends on what you're welding. The bead is going to only be as wide as the arc can melt the base metal or the filler rod. You can go over the bead with another run and widen it but as long as you have penetration on your part your welding your good. I have been mig welding for a long time so I weld sheet metal a bunch and I shoot for pretty small beads because I have to grind it all away for body work. On thicker stuff 3/16 I would say the bead is probably that same thickness. I hope to be able to learn as much Tig knowledge as I can from this site so I hope that you get all the answers and help you deserve for paying to be a member just like me.

Hey thanks for the encouragement!  I will go and watch right now. Are you a coach on here or the owner?  Just asking I'm still trying to learn to navigate the site/forum. Also I'm on the free trial but was planning to buy the year. In hopes to be able to learn and ask questions engage with other welders and become a Tig welder. As I have welded that first coupon any advice you can give to help me from what you see?  I am really trying to pay attention to my arc length. Feeding filler ain't easy lol. Thanks a bunch

Yes I agree we can always learn something from everyone. I truly love to learn it fills my heart with excitement to learn and especially when it's something you get to physically apply to create. So let me ask you this.  I'm on the free trial but was planning on buying the whole year. Is it worth it for me to buy the year?  I just want to be able to learn and it's not exactly cheap to be here. I have actually been learning from the videos but I feel like asking questions is how I can learn the most. Telling someone hey this is what I did and this happened why? Or this works like this why. And be able to gain understanding. 

Watch the video! I'm the same way I build a lot of things because of the money issue or just because I can build things so good for you man can't wait to see the finished product.

So that's what I was after trying to learn without being able to ask questions is not easy. I have been flooding my brain with Tig vids and knowledge at least an hour a day trying to gain insight to this skill. Are you a good welder?  And what other coaches have good content as far as beginners or how to?
