good question. i would like see some info on that.
i have used 1/8 on aluminum and found the grind doesn't ball/change much at all which really helped. however i'm curious on the effect on gas flow/velocity when using such a thick tungsten with a small cup.

Brad Goodman is there any white papers on the subject? the industry usually researches every aspect so someone must know exactly why.
i think overpowering the argon is unlikely. the moisture interfering with the ionization of the gas ?? striping the charge off the argon where the argon hits the air?
or is it simply the air pressure changes with humidity? regulators are referenced to air pressure. changing air pressure will change argon pressures, but i have no idea whatsoever by how much.
