JD Brewer Hey JD, I'll preface my answer with some info on capabilities of equipment I do have.  I can AC TIG aluminum (Miller Dynasty) and I can MIG aluminum HTP PP220MTS (same as Sam's machine) but what I don't have is a welder that will run on 120VAC and is what I would consider "portable".  I'd like to be able to get one that can run a spool gun and weld aluminum in the field in addition to TIG and Stick of mild steel.  I've been looking hard at both the 140mp and the 215mpi (I'm hearing all of the good stuff you say about the 140...I'm torn between the two considering $100 rebate on the 140 and $400 rebate on the 215).  But basically what I'm wanting to see is the practical limits of some of these smaller machines using a spool gun on aluminum (with and without preheat).  Jody's videos with the Prime Weld 185 machine on 1/4" with cut and etch were great and informative.  I'd like to see more and hear more about what they can really do and see the results via cut and etch when feasible.

Jody / DJ, thanks for doing this call and recording it.  Really interesting stuff including the AC vs DC aluminum welding, the push pull vs. spool gun info, and the Lincoln 140MP vs 215mpi talk.  JD, looking forward to the aluminum coupon welding video.  Also, would be interesting to hear Sam talk about spool gun vs. HTP PP220MTS for aluminum welding.

Great video, great arc shots!  Nice work guys

Posting this for the benefit of others: CK24 torch uses Series 8 or Cut-Down or OZMO consumables

Copy that! Thanks for the info. Definitely didn’t see on CK website that had a line other than the CUT-DOWN kit and OZMO kit…really appreciate that lead! Thx, DZ

Johannes Ciobanica I think I got an answer to my question.  After doing more research on the CK accessory kits and stopping this video it looks like you probably have a ground down (modified) #5 stubby alumina cup on the CK 24 torch (because it doesn't look like either the CK CUT-DOWN or OZMO cups).  That being said, if you have any good feedback or recommendations on cups for the CK 24 torch it would be great to hear them.  Thx!  DZ
